Ingredients
  

  • For the Biscuits
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar optional
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 cup cooked ham finely diced
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • For Brushing
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat Oven
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients
  4. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  5. Cut in Butter
  6. Add cold butter and cut into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Add Ham & Cheese
  8. Fold in diced ham and shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
  9. Add Milk & Form Dough
  10. Pour in milk and gently mix just until combined. Do not overmix.
  11. Shape Biscuits
  12. Turn dough onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, fold once, and cut into biscuits.
  13. Bake
  14. Place biscuits close together on baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and fluffy.
  15. Butter Finish
  16. Brush hot biscuits with melted butter before serving.
