One-Pan Balsamic Chicken

Juicy chicken seared until golden and simmered in a rich, tangy-sweet balsamic sauce. An elegant one-pan dinner with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients
  

  • lb 680 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Season Chicken
  2. Pat chicken dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Sear
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  5. Make the Sauce
  6. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and garlic; cook 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in balsamic vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), chicken broth, and Italian seasoning. Scrape up browned bits.
  7. Simmer
  8. Bring sauce to a gentle simmer and cook 4–5 minutes until slightly reduced.
  9. Finish
  10. Return chicken to the pan. Spoon sauce over the top and simmer 5–7 minutes, until chicken is cooked through and coated in a glossy sauce.
  11. Serve
  12. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot.
