Ingredients
  

  • French Toast
  • 1 loaf brioche or challah bread sliced thick
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Brûlée Topping

Method
 

  1. Assemble
  2. Arrange bread slices snugly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Make custard
  4. Whisk eggs, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  5. Soak
  6. Pour custard evenly over bread. Press gently to submerge.
  7. Chill
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  9. Bake
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until set and lightly golden.
  11. Brûlée
  12. Sprinkle sugar evenly over the top. Broil or torch until caramelized.
  13. Serve
  14. Let the sugar set for 2–3 minutes, then serve warm.
